This event was held on 15th October 2017 at Elizabeth to connect with the closure of GMH manufacturing in Australia on 20th October.
The cruise involved just under 1000 GMH produced or assembled vehicles and travelled from the Elizabeth Shopping Centre for 11 kilometres passing the Holden manufacturing plant and concluded at the Central Districts Oval.
The vehicles were divided into a number of colour coded groups with the red “Holden Collection” leading followed the black “Show and Shine” group and then the remaining colours taking about 2 hours to clear the car park at the shopping centre. The first two cars in the red group were the first Holden produced in 1948 followed by the last Commodore produced in 2017 and were flagged off by Bev Brock.
All of the vehicles participating were individually professionally photographed in front of the Holden plant. (See featured image)
An afternoon’s entertainment including a Show and Shine of 100 selected GMH vehicles was provided for the participants. The afternoon concluded with an auction of 3 specially selected Commodores which raised in excess of $300,000.00 for 2 charities.
